Red carpet dares to be bold with modern-chic styles

Amy Adams
The fishtail hems, the fairy-tale details, the strapless silhouettes...
For so long, red carpets were a sea of sameness. You knew what you were going to see before you even tuned in.
Not so this awards show season.
The best dressed on the SAG Awards red carpet exemplified a new kind of fearless, modern chic that's taking over Hollywood.
Topping the list were "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke in a dramatic liquid metallic Calvin Klein dress with a single cap sleeve that made her look like a beautiful bronze statue, and "Blue Jasmine's" Cate Blanchett in a blush pink Givenchy gown with a scarf-like front. There was sequin trim, but the placement was so unexpected it begged for a second (and third) look.
Julie Bowen of "Modern Family" chose a spiral-print Carolina Herrera gown from the spring 2014 collection, which was inspired by kinetic art. The layered black-and-white lines on the skirt created a cool kind of optical illusion when she moved.
"Downton Abbey's" Michelle Dockery wore a J. Mendel black column gown with a plunging neckline trimmed in white. "It's like a tuxedo but a dress," she told E! Entertainment Television. Also working the black-and-white look was "Veep's" Anna Chlumsky in Sophie Theallet.
"12 Years a Slave" star Lupita Nyong'o, who was the sartorial star of the Golden Globe Awards in her red Ralph Lauren cape gown, wore a turquoise Gucci silk crepe column with gold and turquoise floral embroidered straps. It was fine, but not the stunner that the Globes look was.
Nyongo's dress did speak to one of the evening's trends, though. Blue gave red a run for its money as the cool red carpet hue. The best in blue was "American Hustle's" Amy Adams, dressed in an Antonio Berardi gown with an asymmetrical bodice. I loved the contrast of the sharp edges with the soft curves of her body and rolled hairstyle.
Other fearless fliers? "Game of Thrones" actress Natalie Dormer, her head half-shaved, in a load of ear cuffs and a Marios Schwab white dress with black net sleeves, and "Boardwalk Empire's" Gretchen Mol in a J. Mendel white, graphic lace T-shirt gown that was a perfect choice for the balmy 85-degree weather.
"August: Osage County" star Julia Roberts wore a pink Valentino "secret jumpsuit," "Scandal's" Kerry Washington bared her baby bump in a Prada crop-top and Liza Minnelli wore fur trim, proving heat is no match for Old Hollywood.

But "Saving Mr. Bank's" Emma Thompson may have been the night's biggest fashion revolutionary. Not only did she wear vintage (a 1930s gown with peacock embroidery), but after a dramatic chucking off of her painful high heels onstage at the Globes last week, she went with Christian Louboutin flats. You go girl!

Round-up: Glamour on wall street

The Australian beauty has definitely stolen the show in this white Grecian Armani Prive ensemble.
The stars at the recent premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street in New York have definitely lived up to the hype with their glorious fashion choices. Ditching the gloominess of snow-capped winter in the state, our favourite celebrities showed up in exquisite gowns, trendy cocktail dresses and graceful suits. Undoubtedly in awe of their fashion sense, we round up our top picks of the evening:
Camila Alves

Matthew McConaughey’s better half sizzles on the red carpet in a figure-hugging crimson lace dress by Dolce and Gabbana. The voluminous loose waves and smoldering eye make-up surely makes her stand out in the crowd. Her pointed lace stilettos are to die for! We must say Matthew is one hell of a lucky guy!
Leornardo DiCaprio
The Inception star looks dapper in a classic black suit and matching tie. With a slicked-back hairdo, sexy stubble, killer smile and a chiseled bod enhanced by a well-fitted suit, Leo has us simply drooling over him. There is no doubt that this guy is a perfect combination of good looks and talent.
Margot Robbie
http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac89/etwebdesk/etwebdesk013/MargotRobbie_zpsdea69cb2.jpg
Hubba Hubba, actor Margot Robbie looks drop-dead gorgeous. The Australian beauty has definitely stolen the show in this white Grecian Armani Prive ensemble. The black leather panel around the waist lends an edgy touch to the elegant gown and she adds a quirky touch by sporting a pair of spider earrings. The retro hairdo completes her flawless look.
Matthew McConaughey
The hunk with unconventional looks, actor Matthew McConaughey is an eye candy in this gray/silver suit with a matching tie. With the slick, spiky hairdo, courtesy celebrity hairstylist Patrick Melville, and those heart-melting dimples, Matthew looks suave and sharp on the red carpet.
Cristin Milioti
http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac89/etwebdesk/etwebdesk013/CristinMilioti_zps2dac7e9c.jpg
Unlike her contemporaries, actor Cristin Milioti chose to wear something more cocktail party-appropriate. While her Peter Pilotto Paloma dress is fun and flirty, the dizzying pattern is more suitable for the spring season. Nonetheless, with her spot-on hairdo and subtle make-up, Cristin is definitely giving us fresh vibes.
Jonah Hill

Actor Jonah Hill maintained his reputation of being quirky and fun. He sported a navy suit and a white shirt with a spread collar. However, it was his floral patterned maroon tie that caught our attention. We won’t say that we are fans of it but it’s good to see Jonah making an effort!

Wedding dress tips from Barbie!

Its Barbie and Barney Backlash Day so we thought we would see what inspiration we could glean from Barbie for all those Brides out there looking for a dress!
Lace
We like to see that Barbie keeps up with current trends in the wedding dress department. What might have been once considered quite antiquated; Kate Middleton made us fall in love in love with lace all over again! Barbie’s dress has a subtle lace details over the ivory silk in the shape of flowers- we like it- not too overstated- just simple and elegant and in vogue.

Colour scheme
There was no way of escaping pink on Barbie for her wedding day to Ken; however we like the small bursts of colour to accentuate the dress. Pink may not be your thing but imagine it as another colour; the subtlety of the flowers, necklace, sash, earrings and tiara pulling out your colour scheme. You might not like it all but one or two of these accessories in your signature wedding colour could give your plain dress the lift it needs to tie in with your bridesmaids.

Hair
The hair needs to be styled but not too much. There is nothing worse than a hair style on your wedding day that doesn’t move because it’s coated in too much hair spray. The tap and crack as I like to call it! You need the balance between- the best your hair has ever looked- but like you could recreate it at home. Anything else looks too much and unnatural on you. If you like your hair curly- getting it professionally done will give it that edge, but in keeping with your normal look. A big curl at the bottom like Barbie can give a professional touch to normally unruly, wavy hair.

Make up
The smoky eyes are all in with the bridal community at the moment, so it’s not a look to be frightened of on your wedding day, but make sure you don’t go over the top on the black eye shadow or you might just look like a Goth bride! Barbie has it just right- her eyes are popping!

The Veil
Even for those non-religious, non- traditional folk, a veil could still work for you. Even if you don’t pull it over your face, a long veil at the back draping down can complement a long hair do! Just like Barbie’s long blonde locks!

Vertical emphasis
If you are concerned about your height, Barbie has got it just right to make you look taller! With a long veil, a vertical drop on the sash across the middle, long drop of flowers and long necklace, everything on her makes her look elongated, so take heed and use it to your advantage if you are worried about your vertical presence!

Work the dress
You need to wear the dress not let the dress wear you! Stand up straight so every detail can be captured. If you have expensive earrings on, then ask your hair stylist to part your hair in a way that puts them on show. The same goes for your tiara- if you only have a little one, it can get lost if your hair is too puffy at the top. If you have detailed shoulders on the dress, allow your hair to drop behind your shoulders to show the details off! Don’t hold your flowers fright in front of you to block the front of your dress. This so often where the dress draws the eye because it will have some ruchering, or diamantes, although your flowers may be lovely- your dress was more expensive so don’t waste it! In the photographs, raise you’re hand so it’s almost at your hip- if it’s at the side of you, it won’t show off your lovely curves in the dress like Barbie demonstrates!

Consistency
She has a theme and she’s stuck with it! Try not to mix and match your accessories too much! Buy sets that match one another or you will look like a walking jewellery cart. A mix of silver and gold and beading or glitter, will make you look like a fairy has thrown up on you. Stick with one metal and carry it through all of your accessories!

Smile

None likes a moody bride on your wedding day! Save it for the before and the after if something is getting you stressed. You only have a few short hours to get pictures of you looking like a million dollars and a frown can really take the shine off things!

Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra or Deepika Padukone: Who is the sexiest Santa in B-town?

Christmas is here and Santa Claus is coming to town. We’re sure Bollywood fans would love it if one of their favourite actors turned into a Santa for them, no? So let’s take a look at Bollywood divas who could make a sexy Santa
Santa Claus with his long white beard and red outfit, carrying a large bag of gifts over his shoulder is loved by all. But just imagine if instead of this stereotyped Santa, one of your favourite B-townie dressed in red turned Santa for you? How would you like if Santa went from flab to fab? No harm in imagining, hai na? So take a look at Bollywood actors like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan and others who sported red this year.
Teaser-Katrina-deepika-Priyanka-madhuri
And then you tell us, which of these hot actors is the sexiest Santa in B-town.
With Dhoom:3 being the latest release, let’s begin with Katrina Kaif. The Dhoom:3lady was spotted in a Herve Leger dress and boy, she made us drool. The tight-fitted dress helped accentuate her lovely figure. How’d you like a gift from a Santa like Kat? Not so long ago, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra were spotted in red dresses at awards dos. We weren’t impressed with either of these hotties…and then we remembered Deepika in the body-hugging dress she wore to the premiere of Race 2 and we got all starry-eyed. No denying this leggy lass can make one sexy Santa!
Priyanka’s Barfi! co-star Ileana D’Cruz was seen in a red one-shouldered Ramona Narang gown at an event. We aren’t exactly fans of that dress, but Ileana did carry it off with utmost grace. Red lace dresses were quite the in-thing in B-town this year. But our favourite was Sonakshi Sinha. She looked gorgeous in a lace frock and we were so glad that she gave up on her usual black. We like!
The married ladies became scarlet women too. Kareena Kapoor Khan was seen in a red lace dress that she wore with a black inner. The babe who usually makes jaw-dropping appearances went in the opposite direction with this one. But Bebo is sexy no matter what she wears, so we’d love her as our Santa, secret or not! Madhuri Dixit-Nene was seen in a red knee-length dress and guess what? Just like Bebo, this lady too teamed it with a pair of ankle strap shoes! That apart, all we can say for these two beauties is, married and yet so bewitchingly beautiful, hai na?

So BollywoodLifers, as you gear up for Christmas, tell us who is the sexiest Santa in B-town. Which of these babes would you like as your jolly person comming down the chimney with gifts?

Kristen Stewart Is The Face Of Chanel's Métiers d’Art Paris

Grazia is currently in Dallas, Texas where the Fash Pack rolled into town yesterday - headed up by Karl Lagerfeld - for the presentation of Chanel's Métiers d’Art show. While we weren't surprised to see Kristen Stewart among them, she looked mighty cosy with Monsieur Lagerfeld at the French fashion house's Haute Couture fashion show earlier this year after all, it turns out that the actress was more than just a spectator of Chanel's latest collection.
The 23-year-old, who has previously starred as the face of Balenciaga's Florabotanica fragrance has been selected by Chanel's creative director to appear in his Métiers d’Art campaign. Karl will be the man behind the lense when Kristen shoots the ads, which are set for release in May 2014. The pair first met last year during a photo shoot in Paris where the Twilight star was wearing Chanel Haute Couture. She had previously stepped out in a Chanel look at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007 and has since worn designs by Lagerfeld to the BAFTA Awards, the Met Ball in 2010 and of course to the Autumn Winter 2013 Chanel Haute Couture show in July where she appeared to be channeling Karl's style.
At yesterday's Métiers d’Art show Kristen joined the likes of Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour and Dakota Fanning for Chanel's Paris Dallas Drive-In spectacular. She wore wide leg tan leather trousers and a cropped sweater with another jumper slung around her waist in a typical low-key K-Stew fashion. We're imagining the brunette beauty as the star of her very own rodeo in the campaign - a gung-slinging Chanel cowgirl is the perfect fit for her tomboy persona.
